How to Striper Fish Slab Spoons on Lake Texoma

The number one rule for catching Striper on slab spoons is Match the Hatch! Make sure your slab spoon is the same size of the shad striper are feeding on, and then match up your retrieve speed! Remember the warmer the weather, the faster your lure retrieve rate should be! You will have to experiment with retrieve speed till the Striper bite your slab spoon! The most popular slab spoon tactic is vertically jigging.

Vertical Jigging

Drop your slab spoon to the bottom and yo-yo jig the lure back up to the boat. Bottom Bouncing a slab spoon is merely casting the bait out and leapfrog it across the bottom. 1. Find Striper on your graph before you start to fish live bait.
2. Use a splasher prop.
3. Invest in an excellent live bait tank.
4. Use rock salt in your bait tank.
5. Make sure your bait tank filter is clean.
6. Batteries must be fully charged.
7. Use ice to keep your bait tank water fresh.
8. Use a de-foamer chemical in your bait tank
9. Remove dead shad and use them as cut bait.
10. Use enough egg sinker weight to keep the bait at the desired depth.
