A Day on the Water with Buckley Striper Guide Service.
Most potential clients want to know what a typical Striper fishing trip is like on Lake Texoma. This will vary on the season, but below is a typical Summer Striper Fishing Trip with Guide Steve Buckley.
Meet at Highport Marina
The evening before each trip I will contact the client and give them the meeting time and place. We depart out of Highport Marina. I will have the boat ready to fish with rods, reels, lures, and or live-bait. We will load up and make sure everyone has a Lake Texoma Fishing License and shove off for action. I like to make a dry-run to make sure all the anglers on the boat are comfortable with our style of fishing for the day.
We stop at a spot without fish and I show anglers how to drop live-bait and or cast lures. Remember do not reel the egg sinker to the rod tip, and bring your Lake Texoma Fishing License. You will see the fishing license mentioned several times because each year we get 3-4 anglers who forget. Check out our FAQ page for more information.
Hunting Striper on Lake Texoma
Striper Fishing Lake Texoma is more like hunting. It does not matter if we are fishing live-bait or artificial lures, guided fishing Lake Texoma can have multiple stops. Can you get lucky and make one stop and catch a five angler limit of Striper? Yes, but the average trip will last 4-5 hours and can involve 5-10 different fishing spot stops. If we are live-bait fishing we like to use the wind to drift our boat into feeding Striper.
We can drift a spot 2-3 times before moving. Anchoring on a hump or structure can also produce Striper on live-bait. Striper fishing with artificial lures will involve multiple stops and fishing from very shallow to very deep water. Once we locate hungry Striper the action is exciting until the school moves on. Striped Bass are always on the move and the best Lake Texoma Fishing Guides will hunt them down and find aggressive fish.
Let's Go Clean Your Catch
We will finish up our Striper Charter trip when we have reached our legal limit, or clients are simply ready to return to the marina. We never rush clients for a race car trip. If we reach our legal limit of Striper in an hour and clients want to catch and release, that is fantastic. Our trips are 4 to 5 hours and we like to give anglers their money’s worth. Once we return to Highport Marina we will load the boat and clean your catch at my house.
I’m a 10-minute drive to my property and have a great cleaning station with lots of shade trees. I will fillet, remove the red-meat, and pack your catch in a heavy zip-lock freezer bags. We like to take photos of your catch and share them on social media. Bring your smartphones and smiles, we don’t charge extra for pictures.
